Ensure Smooth Customs Clearance with Proper Documentation

To facilitate customs clearance at the Long Beach port or LAX, your shipment must be accompanied by a meticulously completed commercial invoice and packing list. At River Source Logistics, we require the packing list to be uploaded to your Inbound ASN before your shipment arrives at our Los Angeles warehouse.

Understanding the Commercial Invoice:

The commercial invoice is a crucial part of the documentation required for customs declaration when importing goods to the USA. It includes:

  • Supplier or manufacturer details
  • Buyer information (whether the importer or not)
  • Recipient details
  • Country of origin
  • Quantity and detailed description of each product, including material and purpose
  • Value per unit in US dollars and original currency

What is a Packing List?

The packing list complements the customs declaration by documenting:

  • Number of items, along with dimensions and weight
  • Number of cartons used for shipment

Both documents play integral roles in your customs declaration. Consistency between them, especially regarding item quantity, is paramount for seamless processing.
